It's Role in the Blended ClassroomShifting instructional strategies to a blended model takes planning and careful design. If our goal is to meet every learner where they are, students must be given the opportunity to learn at their own pace. This may or may not occur in the classroom, so we must leverage available tools to assess student learning in real-time to ensure learners are on-track.
When we think of assessments, the first thing that may come to mind are formative and summative. The difference in supporting the blended model is the use of formative assessments to check for understanding and provide students with appropriate challenges and student-centered activities to gain competencies. We look to technology to gather data with a quick turn-around in order to provide personalized learning opportunities just-in-time. This also helps us to gauge student needs so we may target areas for improvement. |
